Love magick has always been one of the most misunderstood branches of the Craft. Too often, it is framed as something forceful or desperate, when in truth, authentic love work is subtle, intentional & deeply rooted in self awareness.
In traditional witchcraft, love isn't taken or demanded. It is drawn. This is where the current of Aphrodite moves most clearly.
Aphrodite & the Sacred Apple
The apple has long been a symbol of love, beauty, desire & choice. In myth and magick alike, it represents attraction that arises naturally, not through coercion, but through alignment. When the apple appears in love workings, it reminds the witch that love responds to clarity, confidence & magnetism rather than longing or lack.
Aphrodite’s influence is not about submission or worship. It is about recognizing one’s own allure, one’s own worth & one’s capacity to call love forward through intention and presence.
In this way, Aphrodite’s energy teaches us that love magick begins inward, even when its effects ripple outward.
Love Magick as Alignment, Not Control
Love magick does not seek to bend another’s will (what I call ethical love magick) . Instead, it refines the path so that what is meant to find us may do so without obstruction. This is why traditional love workings often focus on self love, confidence, emotional clarity & heart balance before ever addressing romantic attraction.
When a witch aligns intention, attention & attraction, love responds.
This alignment creates space for relationships that arrive with ease rather than struggle and for affection that feels mutual rather than forced.
The Role of Oil, Crystal & Tea in Love Work
In love spellcraft, physical tools act as anchors for intention.
Ritual oils are used to anoint the body & tools as active participants in the working. When blended with botanicals associated with love, beauty and emotional openness, oil becomes a carrier of intention, allowing the spell to move beyond thought and into action.
Heart centered crystals, such as Rose Quartz or Rhodonite, serve as steady companions in love work. The energetic properties of these crystals don't rush the process. Instead, they stabilize emotion, soften defenses & encourage love to flow in a balanced way.
Ritual teas are often overlooked in spellwork, yet they are one of the most intimate tools a witch can use. Taken internally, tea brings intention into the body itself, supporting reflection, calm and emotional presence before or after a working.
Together, these elements create a rhythm. Prepare, align, invite.
A Love Working for the Solitary Witch
This style of love magick is ideal for the solitary practitioner. It doesn't require elaborate ceremony or perfect timing. What it asks for is honesty, clarity & willingness to tend one’s own heart.
A simple love working might include,
-
Preparing a ritual space with intention rather than urgency
-
Anointing hands or tools to initiate the spell
-
Holding a crystal while focusing on the qualities of love you wish to invite
-
Speaking an incantation that calls love toward you, not from another
-
Closing the ritual with intention sealed & reflection
The power of the spell lies not in how loudly it is spoken, but in how clearly it is held.
Love as a Living Essence
Aphrodite’s influence reminds us that love is not a single moment or outcome. It is a living current that responds to how we treat ourselves, how we speak of desire & how we honor our own boundaries.
When practiced with intention & awareness, love magick shifts beyond simple attraction and becomes a quiet act of alignment with what is ready to meet you. In this, the apple becomes more than fruit. It becomes a mirror, a spell, a choice.
And that is possibly the oldest spell of all.
Witchcraft is more than spells & moonlit altars. It is a sacred dance with the self. In this modern age of burnout and overwhelm, the Craft offers us more than mystery and mysticism, it offers healing. It invites us to honor our emotions as sacred, to tend our energy as lovingly as we would tend a flame, and to see self care not as indulgence, but as devotion.
Ritual Element: The Apple & the Self
In the lore of witches and wise women, the apple is far more than fruit. It is choice, mystery, knowledge, and longing. It is the spell in your palm, the question in your heart, and the answer only you can speak aloud.
Here is a simple ritual to work with its magick:
You will need:
One apple
A white or red candle
A small piece of paper + pen
The Working:
-
Light your candle and take a few deep breaths.
-
Hold the apple & speak your intention aloud, this may be an affirmation, a desire, or a devotion to your own wholeness.
-
Write your words or sigil on the paper, fold it toward you & place it beneath the apple.
-
Let the candle burn (safely attended) as you sit with the energy you've summoned.
-
When ready, eat the apple slowly, mindfully, as a symbolic act of receiving your own magick.
You are the vessel and the enchantment. The spell cast & the one becoming.
Add this ritual to your Grimoire or pair it with any item infused with apple for layered energy work.
A Love Drawing Working for the Solitary Witch
This working is crafted to refine the current of love, allowing connection to move toward you with clarity, steadiness, and right timing. It supports alignment rather than urgency, presence rather than pursuit.
Perform this spell when you can be unhurried. Candlelight or dusk is ideal, though no specific timing is required.
You Will Need
-
One candle in white, red or pink
-
A small bowl of water
-
A crystal associated with the heart or emotional balance, rose quartz or rhodonite are recommended.
-
A few drops of ritual oil (recipe below in a carrier oil of Jojoba or sweet almond oil)
-
Your sacred space
The Working
Prepare your space in a way that feels natural to you.
Light the candle & place the bowl of water before it. Hold your crystal in both hands and take a slow breath, allowing your awareness to gather.
Place a small amount of oil on your wrists, bottoms of feet and third eye, then create energy by rubbing your hands together, allowing this motion to infuse your space with your protective energy & signal the opening of the working (this is also the time to Cast a circle if you choose).
Dip your fingertips into the bowl of water.
Let a few drops fall onto the crystal, then lightly wet your palms.
Hold the crystal once more and focus on the qualities of love you wish to invite, warmth, mutual recognition, trust, affection, steadiness. Let these qualities form clearly in your awareness.
When the feeling is steady, recite the incantation,
The Incantation
With steady will and focused sight,
I shape my path with calm this night.
My heart is clear, my presence strong,
I move in rhythm as I belong.
What seeks me knows the way I stand,
Drawn by intention, magickally planned.
Aligned in truth, my course is true,
Love meets me where my will moves through.
As I will, so shall it be.
Sealing the Spell
Remain still for a few moments after speaking the words. Allow the candle to burn while you hold your crystal and gaze into the flame, anchoring the working through focus & presence..
When the moment feels complete, extinguish the candle.
Carry the crystal with you over the next few days to continue to infuse the essence of your spell work. You may also choose to keep this on your altar, absorbing the energies of your working.
...This spell unfolds with intention. Its strength is shaped through your steadiness, presence & conscious direction of how the energy moves. Return to this working whenever you feel called to realign the energies of love & recognition as you desire.

– Pen or quill
– Optional: a pink or red candle, anointing oil of rose or vanilla, a seashell for the altar

Ritual Preparation
-
Cleanse your space with smoke, salt or a bell. Set your altar or working space with gentle intention. If you have a Venus statue, a shell, or a rose quartz crystal, place it on your altar.
-
Anoint your heart chakra & wrists with rose or vanilla oil, whispering
Aphrodite, I call thee near, with heart wide open, true and clear. -
Light your candle, if using, and take a few deep breaths. With every inhale, imagine drawing in love, beauty & sensual flow. With every exhale, release fear, tension & bitterness.
The Working
Step 1: The Written Devotion
On the slip of parchment, write one of the following based on your intention:
-
A petition (example: “May I attract a love that mirrors the divine”),
-
A praise (example: “Beloved Aphrodite, radiant one, I offer my words in adoration”),
-
Or a personal vow (example: “I vow to see beauty in myself each day”).
Step 2: The Binding of the Thread
Take the red thread and gently wrap it around the parchment three times. As you do, recite,
By rose, by thread, by honeyed breath,
I bind this wish with love’s own depth.
Thread of longing, thread of grace,
Wind round this charm Aphrodite’s face.
Knot the thread with intention.
Step 3: The Rose & Honey Offering
Place the tied parchment into the bowl. Cover it with rose petals, whispering
Petals soft with Venus’ kiss,
Surround this charm with fragrant bliss.
Drizzle honey over the rose petals & the bound parchment, allowing it to gently coat them as an offering. Recite,
Sweet as honey, soft as skin,
Aphrodite, let love begin.
Here I pour devotion bright,
In golden thread, in candlelight.
Closing the Spell
Hold the bowl in both hands & whisper
Aphrodite, I offer this gift,
A thread of heart that seeks to lift.
Let beauty blossom, let joy be true,
With honeyed lips, I speak to you.
Leave the bowl on your altar or in a safe place for three days. Afterward, you may
– Bury the offering in a flower garden or near water (if safe & biodegradable)
– Or keep the parchment & thread in a charm pouch for ongoing devotion
Optional Additions
– Burn a rose or vanilla incense while working
