On February 1, 2026, we are offered a rare and luminous meeting. The Full Moon rises on Imbolc, the festival of first stirrings, hearth fire & the quiet return of life beneath winter’s skin. In the Northern Hemisphere, this convergence feels like a lantern lifted in the dark, revealing what has been warming unseen.
Imbolc has always been a threshold season. It is not yet spring. The land is still cold. The nights still long. Yet something has begun. Beneath frost and soil, roots stir. In barns & fields, life prepares. within the witch, intention takes its first breath.
A Full Moon on Imbolc does not change the nature of the Sabbat. It illuminates it.
Where Imbolc usually whispers, this year it glows.
The Moon at fullness reveals what is already forming. It does not rush growth. It does not demand harvest. It simply allows us to see what has begun to live within us. The season remains one of tending, preparation, and gentle readiness, but now the path ahead is softly lit.

This is the Snow Moon, long associated with the deep heart of winter. In astrology, it rises in Leo, opposite the Sun in Aquarius. The effect is subtle yet meaningful. Leo carries warmth, heart and creative fire. Aquarius widens the lens, reminding us that what we nurture within ourselves also belongs to the larger weave of life. Together, they cast a light that is both personal & expansive.
For Imbolc, this means
-
The hearth fire becomes a lantern rather than a spark
-
What is usually felt beneath the surface becomes visible
-
The seeds you are planting this season can be named with clarity
This is not a season of manifestation in the modern sense. It is a season of tending. Of choosing what is worthy of care. Of recognizing what is alive and committing to nurture it through the slow weeks ahead.
In this year's Imbolc ritual created, this rare alignment is honored through a moment called The Snow Moon Lantern. A luminary, lit with a single flame, becomes the visible body of this Full Moon set within the sun. Here it is held. It glows beside the hearth fire.
In that moment, the witch does not ask for what she wants. She observes what is already stirring.
What is waking within me?
What deserves my care?
What am I ready to tend as the light returns?
This is Imbolc as it has always been, a season of preparation without haste. The Full Moon does not turn it into spectacle. It simply gives shape to what has begun in darkness.
The lantern glows.
The seed is placed.
The season opens.
If you are walking with Imbolc this year, let it be slowly. Let the Moon show you what has already taken root.
The Busy Witch Box Imbolc offering was crafted to incorporate & hold this moment, hearth fire, seed work, tending & now, the rare gift of Moonlight on the threshold. It is not a rush toward spring. It is an invitation to stand in the season as it is.
First light.
Soft soil.
A lantern in the dark.
This is how the year begins.
May this Imbolc meet you where you are. In warmth & wonder - Lia
